Not my pickup with a manual 4 spd. trans.
That thing is quieter than all my automatic vehicles.

& my dad had 3 Cummins trucks. 2 manual & 1 auto. They all sound the same.

It's all in the engine package & exhaust system.

Wow. Not a Porsche but I just bought a new car with a 6 speed manual last weekend. God bless Oklahoma. Test drove the manual and the dsg model and can say without a doubt the manual is louder.

Pics of new car with 6 speed manual tranny or it didn't happen. (You know the unwritten rules).

They should worry more about the phucking aftermarket and some factory exhaust system they put on the fancy cars. CA probably has more of those expensive european cars than any place on the planet and they are the most annoying and awful sounding bullchit ever made. I really have no idea why people think that loud popping and backfiring noise is cool. I'll take a high RPM rev over that exhaust crap all day every day.

So what exactly is the problem with the manual 911 GT3s?

Apparently, it relates to an outdated test procedure, SAE J1470. Written in 1992, it was designed for a time when cars only had four or five gears, and has since been superseded by a more modern procedure called J2805. That new test, which the manual GT3 can pass, dates from May 2020, and should have been implemented by now. But it still hasn’t been adopted in California.

It’s worth noting that this legal issue doesn’t affect sales of non-GT3 manual-equipped 911s or manual 718 Boxsters and Caymans in California. And buyers in other states are still able to choose between manual or PDK transmissions for their GT3s, which will start shipping in the fall, the Touring arriving slightly later, in early 2022.

Typical.

Wife's car has the PDK in it. While I really enjoy a manual, the PDK is an absolute phenomenal transmission, I would rather drive it than a manual. Wife has always had a manual as well, she prefers the PDK over it too.

On the track it is crazy how fast it shifts, easy to down shift with the paddles, and how it will rev match on the downshifts.

Maybe the purist want the manual in the GT3, if I could afford one I would have the PDK.

While I mostly agree with your opinion, the Maserati GranTurismo sounds like angels from on high. They managed to make the Ferrari sourced V8 sound better than it does in an actual Ferrari. The only thing better is the Pagani Zonda, which sounds like the hand of God laying a smackdown upon thee. :)

That's what the 911R is for, if you can get one. :)

I’ll keep the 10 speed auto in my 7.3 liter gasser Super Duty. It has a really nice throaty sound while working through the gears. A little manipulation of the throttle during the process keeps that roar audible.

Personally, I could do without those "throaty" sounds. On our work gig here in Alabama, we stayed in a hotel that was right next to an extended stay facility. Some dude there liked going out way-early-in-the-morning and starting his car and occasionally revving up the engine. I'm talking 3 to 5 o'clock in the morning.

That doesn't even consider those that liked accelerating all the time (even for a one block trip to the next traffic light).

Also, that "throaty" sound might just tempt the local car thieves.
