    neighbor's barking dog

Rawhide is a temporary fix, but you are right. The dog just wants attention. Petsmart does have an ultrasonic bark stopper. Works great. Make sure you get the outdoor one. It is tan, looks like a birdhouse with a brown roof. Runs on batteries & has a range of 50 ft I think. If you've ever been...

    Look down, whats there?

A pair of Ariat Terrain Shoe in Leather. As comfortable as a pair of sneakers, durable as they come and keep my feet comfortable in all kinds of weather. Good question :) As far as socks, I like Croc brand socks. Expensive for a pair of socks, but worth it. I've had the same 4 pair for 2 years &...

    Scavenging

I agree with that. Situational Awareness is something that we practice here regularly. People laugh when they see my cell phone. It is a basic phone that makes calls & an occasional text. While everyone else is playing with their fancy electronics, I've got my head on a swivel and aware of my...

    Trading - trae goods

Well, I look at this from a business plan perspective. Yes, the items listed aren't readily replenished, but most can be done. To be successful, you are going to have to see the need before the need arises so that you are stocked. For instance, don't trade the only chicken & rooster pair until...

    Scavenging

I would disagree with the bolded. That behavior doesn't cause people to become victims. No means no whether it is said in a nice tone or an authoritative tone. People become victims because someone does something to them that they did not want done. That simple overly friendly touch that is...

    Prepping...ya'll worryin' for nuthin'

I'm not a fan of beets, but I've eaten Borscht & it was really good. Hominy is ok, but not something you'll find in my pantry...Same with lima beans. I grew up eating whatever was on the plate. Muskrat roast, squirrel & mushroom stew, duck... I'm not sure I've ever eaten a duck you didn't have...

    Conflicted.... Card #43

I was going to say food banks, but streak beat me to it. I'd also go to most churches as they generally have canned good storage.

    nurses fully stocked med kit

I agree with not "fully stocked" but I do have mine in a storage box. It is handy for keeping stuff together. I'm also super excited about the California vet supply for abx.

    Reality of Surviving SHTF.

Hehehehe... I've drawn up blueprints for bartertown & have started making lists of supplies needed to store. Can't wait for our lunch meeting :) On a serious note, Lurker, you do bring up some very valid points. Everyone thinks that we're a civilized society, but that smoke screen is so thin...

EXACTLY. Also, I keep cash on hand in case something like that were to occur & I need a last minute gas fill up/buy out the store/bribery/etc. before heading out of dodge.

I'm going to be different here. I'd send my husband. My reasoning is that I'm more vengeful than he is, so I know I'd track them to the ends of the earth. He might get sidetracked...

    What yall thinkin?

Well, I'm even more concerned about the spread with next week being the OU Texas game in Dallas. It'll be a petri dish nightmare... Now that it's here, I'm on alert. Forget the pepper spray, I'm more likely to Lysol you at this point if you get too close!

Yup. On a serious note though, I'm with subprep. I'd help them out of the bind they are in, divide the supplies with them, but they aren't joining my group. Heck, I'd probably show them some self defense tidbits so they won't get captured again, but that's about it.

I took a vow that said "till death do us part", but I always tell him it can either come from a "hunting accident" or natural causes, his choice. I'd probably end up taking care of him because I wouldn't do well out on my own. I wasn't given one of those "brain to mouth filters"....

I hear ya! Moving 1,500 miles away from family keeps the crazy to a minimum & I can always shut the phone off to stop it completely! You are so right that life is so much better without all the crazy!
