I used the Chiappa dedicated .22lr upper for several years and it worked ok on my AR lower. I put a lot of rounds through that one. Built a .22lr upper that i really, really like, but have more in it than any other uppers I have.

I am in NW Yukon and anything concrete or on the cars is covered in a thin sheet of glazed ice. It was an adventure to get my trash can to the curb. Not heavy enough yet to be an issue on trees or power lines, but hazardous to walk on a hard surface that has been below freezing for several days
