Anybody here have issues with Gout?

I was a beer drinker and it cut it down 5 to 6 times less situations. My Dr. told me carbonated beverages also can be a problem. I have flare ups once or twice a year now, before it was monthly, and usually if I drink a gallon or so of water and cut back on carbonated beverages I can usually...

Anybody here have issues with Gout?

I've had it all my adult life and I just drink a ton of water when I feel it coming on. I have cut out alcohol, I usually get a light bout and water helps me get over it in a few days.

    Buying ammo for the cases?

AK brass has always been expensive, due to the fact that the steel is so cheap compared to brass cased ammo, so not much of the brass case stuff is shot. Buying ammo just to have brass is not a bad idea on the AK cartridge, finding shot brass on the AK will still cost you .25 to .40 each. At...

Is it worth getting into reloading still?

I think it is still worth it, you buy primers at $100 per 1k (.10 each), bullets at .10 and powder at $40 a pound, if you have brass, your looking a .25 per round or $12.50 per 50. Cast your own bullets your down to .15 per round or $7.50, or course this doesn't include your time. So to me...

Lead for casting, in Layman’s terms

Wheel weights are fine for pistol and rifle bullets, the pure stuff is go for muzzle loader. Sources to harden are monotype, linotype and pewter. Tin which is in pewter will help harden and fill out the mold better. I traded some soft stuff for monotype pound for pound a few years back, so...

    Powder coating lead

Like said above no need to remove the gas checks and must have no lube. Make sure you use a good powder coat paint, I never had luck with the harbor freight stuff. The easiest color I have found is Eastwood Auto ford light blue, it covers easy and looks fantastic.

    Nothing new here.

Swampratt also look at manny in ca youtube stuff, you can use 243 and other dies to create the nose of the bullet, he had at one time a few videos of different calibers of bullets he made.

    Nothing new here.

Dave Corbin, Richard Corbin make the dies, they run anywhere from $500 to $1000 a set for one caliber, Btsniper makes them also, but just be for warned they are all expensive. Most of the core form, rim removal on 22lr, core swage dies can be made pretty simple, the point form dies are the...

    Nothing new here.

I have a swage die to make 9mm into 40 projectiles. You anneal the 9mm case with primer in it, use a soft lead cast 120 grain lee truncated bullet, turn it upside down in the case. you then insert the case in a shell holder that holds 9mm, then use the lee expander (used to open up rifle case...

    processing wheel weight to ingots

It will layer from what I've heard, but stirring it will mix it back in, and the only problem with the fishing weights would be they might be a few grains lighter. People use the zinc ones and melt them into cannon projectiles, and I saw a guy at the range using bullets he made from zinc, they...

    processing wheel weight to ingots

yes the small stick ones should be soft lead, you can use a side cutter pair of pliers to determine what is zinc and steel and what is lead, the zinc and steel ones will be much harder. Most of the time moisture will evaporate out when you heat the wheel weights, when you melt them do it a pot...

Couple of good questions (I hope)

Nothing wrong with what your wanting to try. I've done it before because I didn't want to loose brass casings while pig hunting in southern Oklahoma, and didn't have any hp steel cased ammo
