Dennis, click around on those links, then I'll fill you in on the details (what little I know). Velocities - not sure yet, but yes, that's the idea. Large bore (high expansion ratio) with light bullets equals much higher velocities. Plus, it's convenient, as .50 cal is THE standard now, as...
First off, is it an "A" (regular), or one of the specialties - "M", "TDS", or other? It's probably an "A". Next, what's the serial # and I'll look it up. Generally the older the more valuable, but the new ones hold excellent value as well. Next, most importantly, as always, condition is...
About to start working up loads for the fall (as soon as I get a turkey).
The rifle I'm going to use this year is going to be a:
--Knight's Original DISC rifle, .50 Cal., 24" bbl
The powder will be:
--Blackhorn 209, loose powder
The bullets will be:
--Precision Rifle Co.'s "Dead...
The 597s are ok, but look pretty cheesily-made, when you examine fit, finish, materials. They do run now, post-mag-redesign.
But .... Marlins are better. Get the mag-fed 795 instead of the 60 if you like that better! Promise you won't find a better value in a semi-auto .22 than a Marlin -...
Lotta good choices, but I will also chime in for the Franchi 48AL and Benelli Montefeltro, for some lightweights. The thing about lightweights and shooting a lot of rounds is that a semi-auto can sometimes be appreciated over a pump because of recoil reduction, even in 20 ga upland bird loads...
I've pretty much decided I'm getting one, when I round up some cash. Anyone think that the recoil of a .22 would be enough to activate the bump-fire operation? If so, this and an American 180 upper would be the shiznizzle. If not, 9mm would be the way to go; maybe 5.45x39mm.
Query me this:
Where, praytell, do people plan to bug out TO? If the SHTF, the place to be which is the most defensible, is your home, be it a house or apartment. The correct concept for most people, seems to me, is the "BIR" (the "Bug-IN Room") in your house, not the "BOB". Unless you...
Good job. This morning two were gobbling on the roost just about 45-50 yards from us. But there were NOT cutting off my soft "roost yelps" - no interest at all - they were only gobbling in response to crows and barred owls. Flew down opposite direction and it was all over by 6:55; nothing.
Don't have as many as I used to, but the .22s and the other rimfires (.22 mags and .17 hmrs) are definitely the most fun to shoot - cheap and fun for newbs and old hats alike.
