    Falconry coming to Woodward

I took Padme' up from the molt tonight, she is acting like a typical wild caught bird. Amazing that in less than 30 days she will be hunting with me like if she was born to.

The PIC below is what a battle worn Harris Hawk looks like at the end of a great hunting season! She looks forlorn because we caught over 300 head of squirrels, squirrels fight back harder than anything else we hunt!

    Falconry coming to Woodward

Falcons make short work of Gulls but some of them are protected in certain places. Cats have a bacteria under their claws that kill birds, the slightest scratch and you have to get your bird to the vet ASAP or it will be dead in days. Just another reason in a long list of reason why you...

    Falconry coming to Woodward

This is a female juvenile Redtail hawk, the red tail does not molt in until the second summer. We can tell it is a female by it's huge feet and size, in raptors the females are 1/3 to 1/2 times bigger than the males. Also a side note, the Harris Hawk is the only Falconry raptor that lives...

What a small world, I grew up in Deville, Louisiana. I used to fish in Whitehall all the time, spent many an hour on Cataloua Lake.
