He did do 729mph according to their telemetry they were showing, which depending on the air pressure and temperature could have been just over Mach 1 (i.e. in typical  conditions at 70,000 feet would be 662mph using ISA - Red Bull Stratos was estimating 690mph during mission conditions and with real data). But that stuff has to be verified before they can be sure. Just because the telemetry says 729mph doesn't mean he's traveling 729mph, especially if it wasn't correcting on the fly for air pressure and temperature.</p></blockquote><p></p>
