started this last night for my girlfriend. It's a basic SA G.I.
dehorned frame and slide
angle cut on bottom of slide
bobbed grip safety
bobbed hammer

things still to come:
blend frame and slide at the rear
new barrel/bushing (stock on is very sloppy)
tighten frame to slide
flatten slide stop
flat checkered MSH
round butt
flat trigger
c&s ignition kit (will bob that hammer too)
checkered FS
novak sight cuts
sights of her choice
lower and flare ejection port

was a learning experience, and the first one that ive done all by myself. will be doing everything myself, with help from a gunsmith friend with the milling components. i think she wants to do a matte black

Did you use a file to angle the slide? Or did you use a grinder or some sort of saw? Curious, as I cant say I have ever seen it done. Is this to mitigate any damage from slide bites?

Its good to see you working on your own gun, very cool!

I think you went a little too far on the chamfering on the left side of the gun; at the slide stop notch. Remember, the gun needs that notch to lock the slide back. If it doesnt almost have full engagement with the slide stop, it will quickly peen that notch on the slide.

Also, I would bob that hammer spur a little more at the point. thats gonna be the place thats gonna bite her. Its a SA gun, remember, and theres really no need to ever cock the hammer manually.

Keep at it! Good luck, and keep posting pics of your progress!

yeah i did get to far up on the left side. i was pissed, because the right side was perfect, and straight, and then i guess i got a little crazy and went to far, so then had to go back to the right sid and bring it up. as for the slide stop, there isnt as much taken off there as it seems. still a lot of meat left. i shot a few rounds out the back tonight, and didn't get any bite, so might leave it the way it is. depends on if she likes it or not...

i used a file on everything, except under cutting the trigger guard... still more to go there, but i started with the dremel because there was so much metal there to take off, it would have taken forever with the file.

thanks for the kind words!

I fit my stock trp match trigger into this one, and cleaned up the stock internals. its nothing crazy, but the trigger breaks clean at 5.5 lbs and is as consistent as gravity

I've also decided that i am going to go ahead and cut off the hammer and make it non cockable with the thumb. just ordered a 10-8 flat trigger, 10-8 rear sight and brass front sight.

she wants to do a matte black, so depending on how much she wants to spend, itll be either park or cerakote...

ive also decided that i am going to go ahead and beavertail this gun. i just cant get used to, and its smoothed and blended as much as it can be, and it just rubs both of our hands the wrong way. the bobbed grip safety is not nearly as comfortable as I had hoped
