1911 Trigger Job

Getting ready to dive into an 1911 Trigger Job.
This will be a job in progress as I slowly put this together.

If you decide to tear your 1911 down. Take lots of digital photos to help put it back together.

Disclaimer: Not responsible for anything, do this at your own risk. If you are unsure of anything. Do yourself a favor and take your 1911 to a gunsmith.

Let's get started:

. . . . because if you aren't and are removing much material at all, you will FUBAR your sear. If you shorten your hammer hooks too much, you will need a new one.

I have all these cool tools to do custom trigger jobs and have performed many in the past. It is rewarding and fun. But frankly it's so simple to get a super 1911 trigger pull in the form of a trigger kit from Nowlin, Wilson, Cylinder and Slide or numerous others. You can buy a drop in kit too.

My 1911 is a nice crisp 3 to 4 pound pull. What I really want is a more positive safety release. In my opinion, it is too easy to take off safety and needs a firmer detent.

Crying shame CY isn’t still around to complete this thread.
He had an incredible thread on dissembling a S&W revolver back in the day.
He knew his way around guns but got out a little far with politics.
Don’t know if he got a permaban or just quit posting.

I can't believe that nobody is suggesting winging it with a Dremel.

Joking aside, I've found over the years that the absence of power tools significantly reduces the chance at destroying parts, regardless of the project.

Working on your own stuff is both enjoyable and rewarding. I look forward to seeing the starting and finished product.
