I am in the "not enough info" group. I had a scary incident happen on Friday. We have 2 Pit Bull pups, (just turned 1 last week). Great temperment, love to run and play, but do not understand how strong they are. When they play, they are so clumsy, and big, they fall all over the place. Last Friday, they got out. Keep in mind, we have a fenced back yard, but they can run and clear the 4' chain link areas. I am in Chicago for a couple more weeks and can not put up more privacy fence until then. So we got a 6' tall dog run in the meantime. They have been fine, but Friday they tore the chain link fabric off of a corner of the pen, and got out. What scared us was it was an hour before the school bus was due. They are not mean, but was afraid that a kid would get scared and start running, and the dogs would think they were playing, and end up hurting them. Luckily we found them, no one was hurt, and we put them on chains temporarily. I hate chaining dogs, but for right now, it is the most responsible thing to do. Not real sure about crucifying the owners, sometimes dogs are like kids, you do your best and they are stubborn or just find a way to get out. Not sure if this is the first time they have gotten out, if they are vicious, or just playing or what the injuries really are. I know if my two year old is hurt, we are going to the hospital to be sure. Sounds serious though if they admitted her. Prayers for the little girl and family, and for the dog owner's family if it was a fluke. Not saying that any mean dog should get a pass, but am tired of demonizing breeds.
