[QUOTE="undeg01, post: 3898264, member: 26476"] Check it out, all. This may be the last pic you see of this buck. I hadn’t had a picture of him in over a month. Yesterday, just after I posted about hunting over doe and not seeing any bucks, he came strolling in, right at 5:10pm. He walked past 10 doe to start feeding under my feeder at 18 yds. He had zero interest in the ladies. I got to full draw and almost all of the doe were looking at me, so he turned to look as well. 18 yds, quartering away slightly and when the first doe snorted, I released the arrow. I rushed the shot a little, he jumped the string and I hit him a little high. I could see the arrow sticking out where I hit him. I was behind the shoulder at about a 20 degree downward angle. He did about a half mule kick, ran about a 50 yd circle and headed to the trees with his tail clinched down tight. I backed out, called the wife to bring the dog, then we went to dinner. Went back to look for him this morning. Found just spots of blood and no arrow. The dog trailed him quite a ways further than I could, then lost the scent. We spiraled out from that point for about 500 yds. No other sign anywhere. I am thinking several things happened. The mechanical broadhead failed to open, I probably hit one lung at best and with the arrow embedded, there was no place for the blood to come out. I took a 3D target back to the spot where I shot him and repeated the shot twice. That reaffirmed that I probably caught the top of at least one lung, maybe both. With the arrow plugging the hole, he wouldn’t die until the lungs filled with blood, so he could have traveled a mile away for all I know. I have hunted this guy for 3 years and this was the first opportunity I have ever had to take him. Now I fear he is lost. Hoping I see buzzards next weekend, or he lives long enough to show himself again.
