Been having three decent deer at one of my favorite stands. I headed up this afternoon and get in the stand about 3:20. I was hoping to have a s/sw before the front got here but the wind was already w/nw which blew my scent right to the feeder. I had just texted my son and told him I couldn’t stay there without risking educating the deer. I grabbed my cushion and headed to the other side of the clearing and found a tree to lean on with a little cover in front of me. When I moved, the wind had almost died completely as the front was approaching. I had just sat down and was texting my son where I had moved to. There’s a brush pile about 15 yards beyond the feeder and I can t see what’s behind it. But I could hear what was behind it, a deep grunt/snort and the sound of heavy hooves running off. I think m scent was swirling in the clearing as it was changing directions. The last 45 minutes were prefect conditions and I had a spike come in. Exactly what I was trying to avoid happened anyway. I hope it wasn’t the big 9 that has been coming in there.
