Noble County. Here is a pic of a 16 y.o. friends son that I took hunting on 11/01/2024. It was his first buck. 9 ptr and field dressed at 148 lbs. T/C Encore, 250 gr @ 100 yds. Lung shot and bulldozed for @ 30 yds - lights out. The brown field is very green now after 9" of rain this month. Took him and his dad out last Sunday (aka Windday). We each saw several does in the morning and several more when the wind died down starting @ 3 pm. Poor dad had a gun that was sighted in the day before, but musta got knocked. He missed a doe with three shots. It was windy, but I don't think the wind was going to drift a bullet too far at 125 yds. All our deer sightings were over a failed wheat field (drought) that turned into a rye grass field. The 16 y.o. took two yearlings @ 4 pm. At dusk, 5:20 pm, 3 does and 1 big buck came out @ 350 yds from me. Too far and too late. I am going to try to get setup @ 200 yds closer this Saturday. No seeking. No Chasing. It seemed like a pretty ordinary day. I only heard a few other shots on Sunday. Happy and safe Thanksgiving.
