Hello all! Below are all of my results for the .357 Sig. Please see the associated card to see the ammo type, velocity, firearm, and penetration information. Please feel free to also add any results you may have had, as this could possibly turn into a library of sorts with multiple contributors to help people pick which ammo to stock up on, and what ammo is all hype. In the case of non-factory ammunition that is tested, please bear in mind that you only use the listed load data at your own risk. Safe in my guns does not mean safe in yours. I am also open to testing any ammunition that you may have (factory or non) but if it is non-factory, I will need a breakdown of your load data/process before I pull the trigger on it. If you have an interest in that, PM me and we can discuss. If nothing else, please enjoy the results, they were certainly fun getting!

Gel data: 20% ballistic gel made from Knox unflavored gelatin (and for the money minded, great value unflavored gelatin powder also works fine), and a few drops of cinnamon oil to help keep mold down and prolong the life of the gel (plus cover the wet dog smell of the melting gel).

Also, I don’t pretend to think that this method is the best, most scientific, or even preferred method, but it felt a bit wasteful to just hold onto the data without sharing it with others. So here it is! Enjoy

Wow, that plated bullet really held together and kept on going. Are those thick plate bullets?
All of your 357 Sig results were impressive, especially that 147XTP. Almost ideal performance; makes me want to reconsider the 357 Sig.

I honestly did not expect the plated to hold up in the carbine, but somehow it did! Could be great for hogs since it’s not a “FMJ” per se and will tumble on impact and punch deep. Although, there’s better options for hogs than 357 sig. Haha.

The plated are actually the ones I also use in my 9mm +P carbine loads along side my HSTs. They are from americanreloading.com and are the “LOS” brand. Very cheap and have been very accurate for me (they just didn’t like 2700fps in the 350 legend haha)

Remember you heard it here first. You can never ever go wrong with a 357 sig., or 38 super. It will surprise you as well. I love the 357 sig. Recoil is not as bad as people say either. Not as bad as 40 cal to me.
Love that .357 Sig. I was first introduced to the caliber by a friend in the NJ State Police. I won't go into detail but engine blocks and car body's are no match for the Sig in hardball and Neither are human's.

It seems to be a dying caliber like the 45 gap.

Since LEOs seems to be ditching all the 40 caliber rounds (10 mm exception) its gotten super expensive,

I can get 10mm for $10 a box less. Hopefully it comes back down.

awesome round it doesn’t have the muzzle flip of the 40 imo. The good thing a 40 to .357 sig is a barrel swap, get a 9mm conversion barrel and your GTG.
