No manufactured ever made a round called 45 Long Colt. There was a 45 Colt and a 45 S&W Schofield which was shorter than the 45 Colt.
You want a Long 45 Colt then that would not be a Colt it would be a 454 Casull.

Please change the word round and called to Firearm chambered for 45LC
Colt never made a single action army chamber for 44WCF (Winchester) they labeled their barrels 44-40

Another : Magazine and Clip. I have both although they do not look the same they will both hold ammo.

Reading an article some years back (I believe it was from the NRA) about how the original training Army training manual for the 1911 referred to the 1911 "magazine" as a (gasp) "clip".

My thought was that if you (literally) clip your ammo to something it would be a "clip" such as the M1 Garand or the full moon clip. A magazine is something you put ammo into.

Which all begs a question - is there a SAAMI spec for ".45 Long Colt"?
If not how can one know to what specs those rounds are manufactured?

It is sometimes referred to as .45 Long Colt or .45LC, to differentiate it from the shorter.45 S&W Schofield, as both were used by the Army at the same period of time prior to the adoption of the M1887 Govt.

Got one of those ... but I shoot plain old .45 Colt loads in it since that's what I find data for.

I think part of the confusion is 45 Colt vs 45ACP (automatic COLT pistol)...I think having the the same caliber and both with Colt in the name, people looked for another way to distinguish it further.
