458 SOCOM or 450 Bushmaster???

I am planning a new AR build and trying to decide between the two. Tell me why or why not to go with one or the other. And I do reload, so that can factor in as well.

Don’t know if this is still the case, but there didn’t used to be nearly as much bullet selection for 450 Bushmaster.

I chose .458 primarily because I have a mega ton of .458 bullets from loading 4570 for years and years. The .458 SOCOM case is sexier than the .450 by far as well lol.

458 SOCOM works in AR15 platforms, 450 Bushmaster uses an AR10 platform since it's a longer cartridge. I don't know your situation, but for me I'd stick with the AR15 platform.

450 Bushmaster is on a ar15 platform also. Overall cartridge length is 2.260 for both.

Built a 458 SOCOM and reload for it. Melt the lead into 600 grain pills and hogs just hate it.....

You're right, it's the 450 Marlin that needs an AR10
