What's the general consensus on the availability of 7.62x54r? Most online vendors are out of stock on it and prices have risen steadily in the past couple of years. One local shop here in town is asking $199/440 and they only have two cans in stock.

I'm leaning toward the thought that the supply is drying up. I got in this game a bit late for most of the good, cheap surplus ammo of yesteryear and don't want to miss the boat on 54r.

I see 1-150 for 440. I saw plenty of $105 cans at the gun show and aim is $89 a can out of stock now but I see it pop up all the time.

I bought 880 today. Last night you could buy 440 cans but they show out of stock on those now.

Picked up one tin at the Guthrie Badshot show for $85. it's out there, no need to panic.

People are buying it up over worry about the russia issue. I've bought 3 cases recently, because I had none.

Sportsman's Guide had it two weeks ago for $157 a crate (880). They sold out a couple of times, and bumped it to $189, IIRC. Anyone charging $199 for a 440 can is a rapist, unless it's the "sniper" variety (or maybe heavy ball?). Silvertip surplus shouldn't be much more than $100/tin.

true. It was like $213 after shipping for a case for me. On slickguns.com they have SPG coupons.
