Ok this stuff was like $140 for 200 rounds. I have about 50ish rounds left and I have to say this stuff is nasty! It blows black out the barrel , carbon was thick all over everything and to boot the stuff is kinda meh on accuracy. This is my first AR and maybe carbon and black smoke coming out the end of the barrel is just one of those things , but I have ran a butt load of cheap AK ammo in both AK47 and AK74 and have never seen anything like this.

Not going to completely dog this stuff cause when it is all gone I have 200 cases to reload so there is that.
I have some factory Hornady SST's in 123 g I am going to run and compare.

Is the black smoke an UN-burnt powder deal or am I missing something. It is not like a cloud but still quite noticable.

I have never shot the American gunner, but have shot black and lots of reloads. Only time I get gas in the face is shooting suppressed and even then it’s not terrible. I’ll be curious to see how the sst shoots in your gun. Lots of guys have issues with that bullet, some say it’s only the newer bullets. Mine shoots the sst fine(handloads) killed deer at 475yds with it.

Thanks for the info. I have almost picked some of that up in .223 before. Glad I didn't.

I've been wanting to try the Hornady Frontier ammo.
I like the Hornady Frontier 5.56 for most things, decent price, decent accuracy

Do not shoot the last 50.
Contact Hornady in an E-Mail tell them your findings and ask them if that is normal.
It could have been a lot of ammo that was under charged or a bad batch of powder.

If it is an ammo issue Hornady will probably make good on it or at least have suggestions.
They may want a a few of the batch to analyze .. So save some.
And would not be a big deal to take one apart yourself and see what is in it.

I like doing that.

I shoot a ton of the American Gunner ammo, but mostly bolt action. It's been great for me, especially at its price point. I've shot the 6.5 grendel and 6.5 creedmoor out to 1000yds with it with decent results (not as consistent as federal gold medal match ammo) and low SDs on the chrono. In bolt action I haven't noticed it dirty up suppressors or chambers any faster than anything else, but I've only shot a little 6.8 spc in an AR with it, not enough to notice any build up (and it shot sub moa at 500 yards). Anyway, what I'm getting at is that I've been really happy with it and have a couple thousand rounds of it in 3 different calibers... Sorry it's just "meh" for you!

Glad to hear it, Maybe swampratt is on to something. Could just be this batch I got and I have been reading a little on it and most say they see the excellent accuracy at more than 100 yards . Possible that this stuff settles down at greater distance than I can get at Wilshire gun!!

Have you ran into any that was blowing unusual amounts of black smoke out the barrel?

Never... I've never shot it indoors and I always shoot suppressed, but I've never seen that.
