Reloading some 9mm today and came across this case I've never seen before. Any info on this monstrosity?
There's a very thick brass liner inside the case. When filled with powder it looks like a double charge.

When I look at that I wonder if it's a .32 ACP stuck inside a 9x19 brass
That's a good thought. ^^^^
I had some of those plastic baskets where you separate brass by size and didn't like them because smaller brass would be in the bigger brass when they passed through the holes.
It takes longer but I prefer sitting at my desk and sorting them by hand. You get an eyeball on every one of them for the first inspection that way.
Every time they get handled, they get another inspection.

I have loaded a few. Not any different than other brass with a good press. Might be tough with a little hand press but my Lee O frame and torrent press handles them with ease.

Reduces powder needed...makes setting bullet to correct depth easy. Kinda slick from a manufacturing standpoint...but probably not cool for a reloader.
The cost to the manufacturer to build something like that would seem to be cost prohibitive I'd think?
Some of us that shoot competition load some pretty low power stuff and that is not needed to reduce case capacity nor to seat bullets. The loading machine sets the depth of the bullet which is a straight case that is secured by a taper crimp.
That being said, I've never seen any brass like the OP has posted.

There are a couple of versions, but that one is thicker.

The thinner of the two are stamped Ammoload and FM.

You don’t want to use them in a blowback carbine as case separation is very common leaving a ring in the chamber.

I don't get the reasoning for this type of case? Of course I don't get the reasoning for small primer .45ACP either.
