Shooting IDPA today and had two rut ro's.
Third shot of one magazine and bullet goes pop instead of bang. RO and score keeper immediately hollering stop, I had no intention of shooting more until I inspected my pistol. No idea what happened, bullet hit target but was obviously an under powered round.
Next stage, 5th round of magazine wouldn't go into battery. Smacked the pistole, tried to rack it, no go. Took a big tug to pull the slide back but round stayed partially chambered! A quick few taps of wood dowel down the muzzle and it was cleared.
I believe both rounds were my reloads from a few months ago.
No idea what happened with the squib, guess the other was a reload from BEFORE I started chamber checking every round I load.
Nice little cut on palm of left hand from hitting back of slide.

Thats what puzzles me....I do one load at a time. Powder measure dropped, visually look to see if it has what appears to be the correct amount of powder, seat a bullet on it, put in the press and finish seating it.
Obviously I screwed up there somewhere. ...very soft shot, hit on target where I was aiming (10 yards). And I only got a few dozen comments about denting the target. :)
I'll keep working on perfection, ain't a quitter.

:)

Its EXTREMELY rare but it could have been a weak primer. Almost unheard of, but there has been reports...

The way they make primers puts it into the rare category.

What powder are you using? It's not unheard of for powder to bridge in a meter. Especially if the meter isn't clean. Did you by chance really clean the metering section before using it for the first time? It comes from the factory with some weird preservative on it.

Letting the powder measure get too low can throw light loads as well, but you said your loading one at a time in a loading block, so that kind of puts that issue to rest.

Wait a minute you never stated you use a loading block or not or did i miss that.

With all rounds in a loading block you can tilt the block a slight bit to get good sight and good light into it and see if all the
brass looks like they are all filled the same amount.

This saved my butt once when my powder funnel did not completely empty
I had one piece of brass that was low and the next one beside it was a high on powder fill.
After that i slowed down on my powder filling and tapped a few times on the funnel when finished pouring.
