Reminded why i reload.
I picked up a friends 44 mag model 94 and he states it was his fathers and never shot.
But it has had some rounds chambered into it.
It is from 1969 has 20" barrel and saddle ring..
I picked up some winchester ammo today for it 40 bucks +
That is why i reload.
This gun will get 1 deer under it's belt this year and i will hand it back to the owner.
Such a shame to not harvest with this beauty of a gun.

I have several guns that I have never fired with factory loads unless they came with it. My 9mm and .40 and .45 Colt hand guns have never had a factory round thru them since I have owned them. I have had a few factory loads thru my .45acp but not many. If all the ammo I have shot had been factory I would be in the poor house

No kidding. Last year I found some LeverEvolution powder and bullets. I loaded 100 .30-30 rounds for a bit less than $70.00. Based on Cabelas prices (easy to look up, may not be the cheapest) I would have spent $125.00 plus shipping. I already had the brass, so that helped. Don't know that I'll ever use them, but at least I've still got 90 of them ready to go.

Where I really save is on my blackpowder loads for CAS.

Volume would have to be the dictator I guess.
I don't see how anyone would not if shooting competitively, unless they are sponsored I guess.
For the average Joe who shoots a box or two a year maybe not.

I was the average joe that shot less than a box a year and that was a box of 20.
That would last me 3 years easy.
Then i got some new ammo and it did not group like the old box of 20 i had.
Then i decided to reload to get accurate ammo. Then i had too much fun shooting.
5 years later and 6,000 worth of reloading components, i am no longer the same average joe.
1 deer a year made me happy.. now i limit out. You can be eaten up with it really quick.

I feel the same way. Haven't bought any factory ammo except shot shells and rim fire in a long time. Heck I gather components for "future builds" oftentimes long before I get started on a rifle build. My dad had a fondness for wildcats and oddballs that rubbed off on me. The only way I could shoot some of my rifles would be to reload and some of that involves making brass. It's therapeutic almost to me in a way. Better than but not as cheap as therapy. Swampratt I don't even want to know how much I have invested in reloading components through the years it might scare me.

I bet it is a bunch as i am a newbie and only been at it for 5 years.
I have made some fun stuff with cheap modded dies though.. like 45acp shot shells.
