I built this from a flat and my welds looked like crap. Rifle ran perfect but....

Ok. That explains it good enough. I’ve built AKs in the past but that was a long time ago in the early mid 2000s when they were cheap. I bought my receivers prebuilt because I didn’t have a spot welder or any of the jigs for bending them or a way to heat treat them. It is fun and satisfying building them.

This kit was a Polish Tantal , I paid $219.00 plus shipping. When My Dad passed away he had a screw build AK47 that was .... scary LOL. I bought the 74 to practice and then I bought a Nodak spud to build the 47 with. Built the 74 in 2015 and have put a lot of rounds down range with zero issues , the welds just drove me crazy!!

Finished modding the bolt cutters today and after a couple of small adjustments I was able to set the front trunnion rivets and this thing works great!!

Barrel installed in the trunnion and barrel pin set Sunday evening. Started assembly this evening. Going to get it put back together and make sure it shoots well with iron sights. Contemplating Cerakote to get all the metals the same color but may leave it as is .

So it is back together, weather is supposed to be good this weekend so I believe I will take this and the 47 to either Banner or Lexington Sunday! Prolly sneak the 6.5 G in there as well.

Man, I like the profile of those AKs so much better than ARs, other than the banana-shaped... lol, whatever ya wanna call 'em.
