In light of the recent hate on 700s in other threads, I thought I'd post this up...
I bought a 700 in .270 two years ago from a gunsmith. It is an ADL, and unbedded. The gunsmith had put about an 2lb trigger on it....just a beautiful trigger of the old type.
Before I bedded it, it shot about 1 MOA cold. But once the barrel heated up, I'd start vertical stringing...BAD.

So I bedded it myself, and ended up breaking off the bolt in the process. So I finished the bedding, got an improved and longer bolt welded on and voila....

Sub-MOA @100yds!

This was from a standing, but supported position.

So Remington 700s aren't top of the line, but I have a rifle that shoots Sub-MOA for under $700, that's a pretty good deal.

Not really sure what your point is. The last couple of rifles I purchased, a Savage and a Howa would both shoot sub 1 inch groups right out of the box. No rebuild required.

Sub 1 inch groups at what range?

My Rem700 ADL shoots MOA groups at 100 yards easily, all day long. I can get 1/4 moa at 300 yards with loads worked up for the rifle when I do my part. I don't see much hate talk about Rems. Savage folks always seem to talk the rems down, but thats okay. They both have their merits.

I am not sure of much hate toward the Remington 700 line, what I see is more people having QC issues. Not to mention Remington seems to have fallen behind in the out of the box superb accuracy department. There are so many manufactures out there competing right now for out of the box accuracy and Remington is just sitting back letting their name sell the rifles.

I own a Remington 700 that I love to shoot and enjoy it so much that I have put quite a bit of money into it. I also have a nice little CZ that I had to put $0 into it and enjoy shooting it so much more than my Remington. The CZ has performed so well for me that it received a nice quality piece of glass that cost twice the price of the rifle to sit on top of it. While the Remington wears a Midway exclusive weaver scope. To me the lower end Remington 700s are just that, low end or entry level rifles that will perform decent enough for 90% of the people who purchase them

These are 5 shot groups from the Remington

Start with the best to date:
