I'm not expecting anyone to divulge any secrets or anything, but has anyone ever had any success for turkey/deer at American Horse Lake? I have seen turkey out that way, but is it worth the effort? Thanks.
I saw 6 deer there last night around 5:30 pm as I was leaving the lake. One appeared to be a nice buck but I was too far to count the points. Somebody was sure burning some powder on the ducks. WoW, there must have been a couple hundred hulls at least around the shore.
That place sucks. Hunted it a bunch and never saw anything.
The deer hunting is a mess. I used to bowhunt there along with 10 other guys. Way too many for say 100 acres at the most of deer habitat. There are turkeys out there but not sure its open to hunting activities during spring turkey season. Fun fishing for sure! I always take a turkey call with me in the boat and can have em sounding off for miles in that canyon. I used to shoot alot of crows out there after deer season.
Don't know about the hunting but the fishing sure was good.
