[QUOTE="Danny Tanner, post: 2472378, member: 10619"] Because, despite the teachings of love and compassion, Christians represent the majority in this state and aren't always the most welcoming to those who are non-Christian. It's nice to have a group of like-minded individuals to feel you're still welcome. Saying that, I hate that too many fellow atheists (though secular doesn't necessarily mean atheist) are ultra-lefties. I'm surprised at the number of pro-gun atheists. To the OP, just because you're Christian, doesn't mean you can't participate in secular groups. Our founding fathers, despite many being Christian, still saw the value in a secular Government. You can be highly religious, yet still secular. Perhaps you should join them for a meeting and see what they're actually about. If they're a separation of church and state group, then great, they're actually serving a beneficial purpose. If they're just a bunch of atheists bitching about religion over organic, free range, cage-free, grass-fed, free trade, fair trade, shadow-free, ethical coffee, then I'd definitely have some formal questions why they're on the receiving end of school money.
