So far the author has failed at her fourth point, "be prepared to use it for protecting myself at home or in public." Unless and until she has become familiar with and become proficient in using her weapon, she will continue to fail at that point. Perhaps she only intended to mean "mentally and emotionally" prepared; even so the rest of her article would make it appear that she is neither and until she obtains some training and practice will remain so.
She's so ignorant and irresponsible that she projects onto others her belief that people who carry guns are also ignorant and irresponsible. To me it would appear that she is not nearly as intelligent as she believes she is.

The comments are rediculous. One if the ladies is saying that see she needed no background check! Wtf ur an idiot yes she did. It was easy for her because she is a law biding citizen. Does she need training? Hell yes!
WOW, people's ignorance never surprises me anymore. From her writing to her ignorant followers comments, none of them have a single clue about firearms & for her to go buy one & automatically start carrying without even knowing if it's loaded or not & being too scared to even check is a bad move on her part. She is acting exactly like those she is so scared of, yet is too ignorant to realize it. People like her who set out to do these things only in hopes of demonizing it are scum. What's even sadder is that people actually agree with her actions & follow her ignorance.

Interesting to say the least. The point she makes is valid; in many cases, any ignorant fool can buy and a carry a gun with ease(at the peril of themselves or others). However, her assumption that many do this in the manner she is attempting is completely off the mark and only further illustrates a lack of common sense on the anti side. I am actually looking forward to reading her progression....this experience could change her position/opinion on gun owners(although I doubt it will change her opinion on guns).
