yup yup.

I would also recommend anyone who is interested come even if you don't have parts to build. Like I said, I'm gonna bring several setups and it only takes a few minutes to really put together... so there'll be plenty of time. And uppers you can take apart and redo completely in just a few minutes. So there'll be lots of opportunity.

The only thing I don't mess with is front sight posts. I don't care for them, so I've never bought a front site post block. But I'm sure someone will have one for those who want the more traditional look.

Definitely looking forward to this more and more.

I would be interested. Though I would like to see a price list or suggestions. I want something durable and problem free.

I'm good for January 17th. If you see any deals in the mean time maybe we can buy this a piece at a time and slide it right under the wife's nose. Any deals out there?

My plan was to start a thread with online "deals" we can find over the next few weeks. I'm thinking the run-up to Christmas and the after-Christmas sales might be a great source for some stuff. I've had an offer from one member to donate some things, too, and I know I've got some spare parts I can toss in, as well. I just wasn't sure where to put a thread for that.

Definitely a good idea, though. ;)

<edit> BTW, I've got one guy who wants to build a lefty, but I've never researched that, so if anyone finds good deals on special lefty build-stuff, lemme know.

That's a good list right there.

Thanks for putting that together Nikat. All that linking is a PITA, I know.

Matter of fact... I'd bet a dollar we could get S4F to put together that package in a quick purchase format for our guys? Just go to FBT and add the special purchase to your cart and check out. That way people who wanted a good basic AR with a nice handguard and no front sight post could just buy that. You might be able to save a dollar or two here and there, but I'd bet that's a pretty competitive package with about anyplace on the 'net. Helluva job, Nikat.

I did some looking, and you can beat it a little here and there, but you'd have to buy parts from a dozen places. And I didn't figure in the FFL transfer fee if you order a lower somewhere else.

Also, if budget conscious, you can actually save by buying a complete upper, but if you are wanting to try out your hand in building an AR from parts, this is about as cheap as you can do it, and it's a one-stop-shop.

Interesting how on Nikat's list, the most expensive item is the free-float hand guard. I've found that also to be the case with the builds I've done; why are those free-floaters so expensive??? It's just a tube with holes in it.
