SMS, that's the answer I assumed, I don't see the point in having them on if I cannot use them with out the scope being removed. I'll pull them off and relocate them to a future project.... dang you Black Friday deals for getting me a stripped upper to work with!

Leaving them on is viable if you have a QD mount...scope gets damaged, use the throw lever, ditch the scope and keep rolling with the BUIS.

My current mount is not QD, but I left the irons on since I'm just experimenting with an LVPO right now. If I like the optic I'll switch to a better QD option.
