During the winter storm of 2007 someone had checks made on our business bank account and bought tens of thousands of dollars worth of chainsaws and generators at Home Depot and Lowes. When dealing with the bogus checks Lowes was great. We called them one time and got set up with a contact to whom we sent our police report and each check that came through. With Home Depot the process was much more difficult. They wanted us to file a police report on every check (until eventually there were so many that they told us to stop) and every time we called in they were accusatory acting like we were the criminal. Because of that situation in the 17 years since (it's hard to believe it's been that long) we have probably spent $30K+ at stores like this and Home Depot probably hasn't gotten $500 of it. We have only gone there when Lowes didn't have it, we couldn't find it anywhere else locally and we couldn't wait two days for it to come from online. Somehow Home Depot has survived without us though. :)
