[my use of "you" in this is not directed personally to anyone in particular... it's a general statement] In a circumstance where someone has stolen something and is running away, it's probably wise to just forget it. I can't run that fast anymore and I'd hate to hurt myself or an innocent person when giving pursuit. A robber fleeing from me causes me no imminent danger. In a circumstance where someone is actively attempting to rob me, I will assess the situation and consider my options. I will likely put up resistance. If the other guy causes me to feel my life is in danger, (in other words, if HE decides that stealing from me is worth causing me serious or deadly injury), then I will defend myself with an appropriate response. I'll say it again in a different way for those who think that there is some other point to protecting property... because it's true, the value of the microphone isn't the core issue; there is another point. The problem is that point is usually not economically sound nor is it related to a livelihood nor will it mean much of anything in the long run as some have eluded to. The point IS that if you let your EGO and your PRIDE get the best of you, you will likely make a decision that isn't for the best. You may kill a man out of EGO or PRIDE. Are you willing to do that? With respect to whether or not a thief is a P.O.S., you'll get no argument from me. I hate thieves. That said, is it your job to rid the world of them? Do they deserve to die at your hand for the good of the human race? Should you alone determine if their linage ends with your bullet? I hope nobody decides your fate using such arbitrary and failed judgement.
