Ate lunch after Church at a place in Lawton called The Back Porch which, in the past, has not impressed me. However, the menu was a little different today and I ordered the Okie-Reuben. It is chopped corned beef, swiss cheese, mustard, and a really tasty mix of sauerkraut and jalapenos all served on a marbled rye/pumpernickel bread. The sandwich is surprisingly good. Most Reuebn variants disappoint but this is one that I think is arguably an improvement. If you eat at TBP in Lawton (or their other locations) I suggest you give it a try if you like Reuben sandwiches. We may have to try giving The Back Porch another try as a Fat Guy lunch venue.

That is all.

I'm half Czech, my great grand parents spoke broken English, and always had kraut on hand and the next batch in the works. I could live off the stuff still to this day. Nothing like a sandwich made with rye bread, brisket or pulled pork, kraut heated to boiling with a splash of garlic powder stirred in, onion and green pepper sliced paper thin. Pork roast, knedlik and kraut makes a good meal too.

You're making me hungry. Never heard of knedlik ... had to look it up ... sounds wonderful!
