Long Story Short: Barylor freshman defensive end Sam Ukwuachu was kicked off the Boise State football team in 2013 for violence against a female student.
Then he transferred to Baylor and was required to sit out the 2014 season.
Last year he was indicted, on June 25th 2014, for 2 counts of sexual assault against a female Baylor student athlete.

Absolutely nothing from Baylor or the press was ever released.
As recently as 2 months ago he was still projected for extensive playing time to much fanfare.

Yesterday, Aug 20 2015, Sam Ukwuachu was convicted of second degree sexual assault.
He's expected to be sentenced today.

It's actually a lot worse than it sounds but the story is a bit too long to repost here.

Sentencing was yesterday.

The jury recommended 6 months probation (he's a great player).
Judge overrode the jury and sentenced him to 6 months in jail and he has to register as a sex offender.
Art Briles doesn't know anything about anything.

And now we know why Briles was passed over for the TU job.

So he never actually played at Baylor?

No, he had to sit out for mandatory year as a transfer.
However, Baylor's D-coordinator, (Phil Bennett, whom I used to respect) said just a few weeks ago that they expected him to play this fall. This was well after criminal proceedings had started (and yes, innocent until proven guilty, but based on his past record, BU should have been very suspicious).

If the reports of the University's treatment of the victim are true, this is despicable behavior, and everyone involved should at least lose their jobs, if not face criminal charges.

All in the name of football and the fat pockets that lurk behind that scene. Stupid. If the world were made up of more people like me, football would be a lot less "essential" than it is now since people, both on and off the field, wouldn't be so fanatical, sometimes to and beyond the point of inanity, about the sport.

Where to begin?

The school kept this guy on the roster for 14 months after he was indicted for sexual assault and didn't say a word.

The local news media is either incompetent or in cahoots.

The jury arrived at a sentence of 6 months probation for sexual assault?
Really?
Even giving them credit for probably not knowing about the previous 2013 accusation, that was a slap on the wrist sentencing recommendation.

This is the kind of thing that is turning me off more and more to sports completely.
And that's saying something

Yup. Wasn't it Florida State that had a similar incident but they released the tape immediately and kicked the little bastich out of school? OU and Baylor need to take a page from their book. Hell, the entire NCAA for that matter...
