bead blast

Who in Tulsa can bead blast my black stainless springfield 1911? The armor kote is flaking off and it looks terrible.

Ask for examples from whomever you choose. I've seen nice firearms turn out not so nice from sand or bead blasting. A delicate touch, correct media for the job and appropriate masking is important.

Is there a chemical means to remove the coating?

after spending sevaral years in the industrial coatings industry i would definately say use a high qaulity low abrasive material such as glass beads or soda blasting.
