I was raised same way. My parents raised their own cattle, hunted, etc. My moms mom cooked for my grampas hired hands on their ranch and taught my mom how to cook. My mom is half indian and also learned a bunch of traditional indian cooking from her father who was full blood Osage-Kaw. We ate everything on an animal that was edible, and you ate whatever they cooked and put on your plate or in a bowl. Didnt like it you didnt eat. My kids today are wussies. If they dont like something theyre momma lets them take one bite then thats it. And if we eat something they dont like then theyre allowed to make a sandwhich instead of eating what we fixed. They would have starved in my house growing up with us,that wouldnt have flown with my family. No way my mom or gramma would have let you just go make a sandwich when they had cooked a meal. I didnt care so much for scrambled eggs and brains or liver, onions and bacon but I ate it. Some stuff I still dont like and hope I never have to eat again, some stuff I crave. Seems like my gramma or mom would boil the tongue then grind it too,but they would put horseradish on it and a slice of onion on the sandwhich if I remember right.
