This is BIG MAX! It's chambered in 357 Maximum, has a 1.250" diameter bull barrel, is 25 1/2" long, and weighs a solid 14 pounds! Trigger pull is 2 pounds 12 oz..

The barrel is mine, meaning that I drilled/reamed/ bored and rifled it. I also poured molten lead down part of the bore for a lead lap, finishing with a 2,400 micron lapping compound. The carbide buttons used to build this barrel are of my own design, but were built for me to my specifications by Mr. Barlow, a retired tool and die maker out of Texas.

So far, these are 2 of the most accurate bullets tested, and they both shoot the same exact load, and to the same point of impact at 100, 200 and 300 yards.

Velocity is 2,900 fps.. measured 15 ft. from the muzzle with an Oehler 35P and double checked with an Oehler 43 PBL.

These are the best 200 yard targets so far -

This is my best 5-shot group, and was shot at 300 yards with a borrowed Weaver 45X Target scope. All 200 yard 3-shot groups were shot with the 3X-12X that now permanently resides on this gun.

I think I'm ready for deer season!

    What’s the difference between a 357 mag and a 357 maximum?

that gun looks sweet by the way.

Its longer and shoots faster is the difference. I have a .357 Max revolver and a Conterder barrel in it.

That's dang respectable work right there. If you nail a deer with that I hope it's out there a ways, otherwise you won't have anything left at those velocities! Hope you don't have to tote it far either. :thumb:

The 357 magnum has a maximum case length of 1.290".

The 357 Maximum has a maximum case length of 1.605".

The 357 Maximum also has a higher operating pressure limit vs. that of the 357 magnum

You can actually shoot "4" different cartridges in a gun chambered for the 357 Maximum:

    1 - .38 special

    2 - 357 magnum

    3 - 360 Dan Wesson

    4 - 357 Maximum

Even though the "shorter" cartridges can be safely fired in the 357 Maximum, accuracy usually suffers because the shorter the cartridge, the further the bullet has to jump before engaging the rifling.

Thank's for the compliments guys, I appreciate it!
