Life may have just changed for the better :
Bird hunting life that is :D
I just got an invite to go with a couple of guys to NW Kansas for a quail and pheasant hunt on some of the walk-in areas, and from what we were told, by a group that just went out there last weekend, they limited out 3 days in a row on pheasant, and saw lots of quail in the snow but never shot any as they were only out for pheasant. Unless something changes, we will be leaving thurs after work, and coming back Sunday. With any luck at all, we might get into some birds. :D

What luck my weekend off! Just kidding. Have a great time! Are you taking Gunner? Good luck! Can't wait for the story and pics.

Gunner will be along for sure. The other guy going has two first year pups that he is training, and needs to get into birds. As you know, they have been in short supply around our neck of the woods.

Actually, one of the hunting reports came from an OHP. My buddy was on his way to the vet to pick up his dogs, when he got stopped by OHP. Of course, the first thing the OHP asked was why he was speeding, and my buddy,(who has been in sales for about 30 years), said he was on his way to pick up his bird dogs, lost his train of thought thinking about bird hunting, and went over the limit. Turns out the OHP had been up there the weekend before. Tom, working his sales magic on him, got directions to where they hunted and where they stayed. Just gave him a warning and off he went after talking about bird hunting and shotguns.:chat: :mosh:

It will be a 4 1/2 hour drive one way for us, so I hope the stories were true. I looked at the Ks wildlife dept website, and they said the quail and pheasant numbers in Zone 1 are up 30% over 2008, and 2008 was a good year.
