I guess I'm different than some. I was born almost 72 years ago and was in Boy Scouts for a few years. However, in our troop, there was less learning and more just camping out somewhere and hanging out. Thus, I didn't stay in the program, and got to do more camping out on my own. I've now got 4 grandkids, with two being boys and two being girls. They (the boys at this point) are getting started in scouting and their dad is actually helping be a leader. With this change, the girls (who are somewhat kind of like tomboys) will now have an opportunity to get into scouting and camping. The next time I get back to the city to see our son and his kids, I need to take my old Boy Scout Handbook so they can see it. My son said that he thought the other scout leaders would like to see that as well.
