Brass tumbling media?

At H&H, I noticed packages of brass wire stock that was cut into 1/2" pieces. The label read 'brass tumbling media' or something similar.

I understand that this material is used when tumbling brass, but why?

They're for use in drum style tumblers primarily. The clean the brass up really quickly and make it extra purdy.

You use it in a rock tumbler/polisher. Mix some dishwashing soap and cream of tarter in water. The brass media is just welding rods for brazing yopu can get cheaper tha H&H at a weld supply shop. Have not bought the polisher yet they cost around $150.00 give or take.

Hey, I just learned these terms the other day from OSA threads and members not unlike yourself. Apparently, BH means hurt feelings, in case you didn't know. Gawleedang, where have you been for the last decade?
