Have a fraternity brother who had in-laws that owned a large ranch outside Tulare, CA. They would either gas or poison the ground squirrels … we offered to shoot them. Lot of fun with our 22’s. However, I had just bought a Sako in 375 H&H Magnum and wanted to test it and the Leupold 2x7 in a Pachmayr Low Swing mount on the ground squirrels. Hitting a ground squirrel with the 375 would create a reddish pink “mist” much like smoking a clay bird on the trap range.
