Mine has given me trouble with misfires ever since I've had it, while my brother's, son's, and son-in-law's have always been reliable.
I have finally figured out the why, but am wondering about the how. The problem is, the magazines don't go far enough up to fully release the "magazine safety bar". I don't know for sure what the technical term is, but it's the bar that goes from the base of the grip to somewhere up around the trigger. It blocks the trigger pull if no magazine is inserted. If I hold pressure on a magazine with my off hand while shooting it will fire every round. If I release the pressure it will misfire on a regular basis.
Is this something that can be easily fixed, or should I send it back to Smith. I've considered just taking my knife and carving away some of the grip, but I'd reckon that would void any warranty.
