If you don’t live in Canadian Co, I don’t know who all might have seen this.

Chris is a great guy and has done a lot of good in our county. I think this is very forward thinking on his part. This is completely separate and different than reserve or auxiliary officers. He is looking for people of all backgrounds, skills, experience, etc., not just former military and law enforcement. Chris is basically trying to put people in strategic locations around the county and in communities for a rapid response situation. He specifically cited situations of civil unrest, being riots, looting, etc.

Chris is also a huge supporter of the 2A and has designated Canadian Co a 2A sanctuary county and has indicated this posse would be in place to help defend that.

This kind of reminds me of the "Sentinels" in Lawton PD who were basically old retired guys who patrolled in a cruiser without guns. They would do admin work like minor car wrecks.

If I lived in Canadian County I'd join it. I've been eyeing the reserve deputy program for Cleveland Co for a while but haven't submitted an app yet.

Have you seen their application form? It’s online. Thirty pages and lots of questions that dig into your private life.

Yeah that makes complete sense to fill out those details if you're going to be a reserve deputy who has the authority to conduct police business.

Sounds completely different to me:

"The Sheriff's Posse is a rapid response force of citizens who could be called upon "in a minutes notice" to answer the call to aid in safeguarding lives and property and the Constitutional Rights of innocent law abiding citizens of Canadian County. The Sheriff will also utilize the Posse to support other civic and community oriented events and activities."

Disasters, civil unrest, etc., maybe working "security" at some public events? I dunno, just how it reads to me.

Yeah agreed, working a non injury MVA isn't the same as rolling up on civil unrest.
