I keep getting mixed reviews on them but I want to hear from someone who owns one and actually shoots it, because I got a guy wanting to trade one for me to do some work for him and the rifle looks nice but I have heard terrible stories about them blowing to bits.

I would look at it as a collectible investment. But yes if you do field strip it pay attention as the bolt will come back and rearrange your face if not properly assembled.

The 1910 had the interrupted lug bolt that could be assembled incorrectly, allowing the gun to be fired with an unlocked bolt. The 1905 used two large lugs and was a much safer design. I had a beater 1905 in .303 years ago and enjoyed shooting it. Somewhere here around the house I have a museum booklet about the Ross.
