Here's a story. Years ago my son told me of a Mustang on a trailer he'd seen on his way home from school with a for sale sign on it. So, I went to look, but, on this car things just were'nt looking right, brackets in stange places, unusual shock mounts, huge sway bars, etc. After looking for a while and really questioning things in my mind, i went and got my decoding book...............it was originally a 70 Boss 302. The kid had no idea what he had................I bought it for $250.......a rolling chassis.........Now, keep in mind, this old car had been abused.......it was painted maroon with gold metalflake, and a gold "lace job" (for those of you old enough to remember THAT) eeeekkkkk! When I started taking that off........sure enough, the original white and black was underneath.......... As things turn out, I already had a Mach 1, lost my job, had to move to Tulsa, and then a divorce so, I did'nt get to restore it. I gave it to my son who sold it for a considerable profit.........the ONLY car I've ever owned and made money on.............LOL He sold it to a guy from Calif. with the condition that it would be restored, not parted out. Now, the kicker, when I registered it with the Boss 302 Registry.........according to records, (most Boss records were destroyed in a fire yrs. earlier) that it was considerably higher in the serial number than any other Boss in the registry.............I was told by them that it was quite possible that that was THE LAST Boss 302 ever built...........(sigh)
