Hate raccoons, shot 16 in August, I don't have chickens but they raid my bird feeders. I bought some seed called Sizzling Heat and
have had two hit my feeders since, and it put a smile on my face to hear them hit the porch on the run.:rubhands:

FWIW, cattle panels covered in chicken wire makes a pretty secure pen. Ya do have to put chicken wire across the top though. Anything that eats full-grown chickens can either climb or fly.

Just my 2¢ ... :drunk2:

The best layers we ever had were some "burnouts" (ha! alledgedly) from Mahard Egg Farm. Got 6 of them from a friend (along with a couple duck hens and a drake). I don't think any of the chickens failed to lay a day while we had 'em.

Built an incubator and hatched/raised ducks for a while. Had 38 when we finally got rid of 'em (not counting the parents - which it turned out the guy was pretty fond of, so we gave them back to him).

We were gettin' kinda tired of ducks anyway... :D
