Okay, I've searched the forums some and just didnt find the answer I was looking for. I'm looking to buy a pair of earmuffs for my neices, I already have ringing at times personally, so I'd like to be able to stress to them the importance of hearing protection. I'm looking to find some with a NRR of 26 or better for them, but all I seem to be finding in the smaller children/women size is the NRR of 22, I mean what the heck is up with that? The cheap browning pair I bought for myself were rated at 26 NRR... I'm looking to stay around the $50-$60 range for the pair. Thanks for any and all help.

have you looked at the surefire ear plugs. I think they are an ep6 model or called sonic defenders cant remember. But they come in sizes from small to large, might fit a small child depending on age. Or are you lookin for ear muffs style?

I have noticed there is not a big selection for kids.
We took my buddies 4 year old out to the range last week for sight in, and he gave him a set of industrial ear muffs. They worked so well, that he couldn't hear us when we told him to stay back from the shooting bench. He was walking around picking up brass.
I put in ear plugs, and let him use my electonic muffs. We didn't have any problem after that.

They have trouble with the foam ear plugs, that's why I am looking at the ear muffs. Also one of them has had extensive ear troubles and it bothers me that she might have trouble caused by the ear plugs.
thanks
