Dropping mine off at the post office this afternoon. Anyone else planning on submitting an order packet for the lottery?

I have a gut feeling that the submissions won't be as numerous as originally estimated (75,000). Way too much grumbling about pricing, paperwork, and FFL requirements...not to mention all those who won't follow the order instructions and will have their packets discarded as a result. There have already been over 500 early submissions reported by the CMP that went straight to file 13. :rolleyes2

Nope. It’d be cool to have a USGI 1911 from back in the day, but I can put the money to better use elsewhere since that 1911 would just sit in my safe and do nothing. I’d rather have a modern 1911 with three-dot sights that I can actually see when I take it to the range.

They are all parts guns, the only thing worth anything is the US government stamp on frame.

There are reports that a large majority of the pistols were arsenal rebuilds that went directly to storage. There are definitely unissued Anniston rebuilt guns from the 70's among the 8000, but how many is anyone's guess. I honestly don't care if the pistol is remotely correct or not as long as it is serviceable. If I were to have my pick, I'd likely opt for one of the minty Anniston rebuilds . What I wouldn't want is a 1911 (rather than an A1) with a non-heat treated slide. I am assuming that there may be a few 1911's and WWII refurbished 1911's in the mix.

I sent mine off Tuesday afternoon. Not getting my hopes up, just putting my name in the lottery.
