Message: <blockquote data-quote="djcorrell" data-source="post: 1214900" data-attributes="member: 12752">this may not be the right place for this but.....just wanted to see how many people understand or pay attention to the way that the local media reports on things with half truths, bias or outright lies.  or maybe they are ignorant.the other day there was a story about a teenager with a "submachinegun" in a parking lot that was ran off by a security guard.  the teen dropped said gun and fled.  the next day i heard a little blip on the news (don't remember which one) and they referred to it as "tec-9 submachinegun". now i don't know if they are ignorant or don't know how to use google or wikipedia.  but either one and 10 seconds of reading will inform someone that they have never made a machinegun.  the original design was for one but it was too poorly made for the swiss market and flopped. so they made them for the US market in semi automatic. but i guess these people just need one more excuse to vilify an inanimate object and misclassify a particular company that was driven out of business by name in legislation that is unconstitutional.i could go on, but will stop for now.  lets see where this discussion will lead.i look forward to any one else's accounts of misinformation, incorrect statements, or outright lies in the media, with the primary focus on the local stations in our communities.</blockquote>
