The Indian or Paki Enfields had some kind of preservative that turned hard as a rock in some places.

I had to take the trigger grouping and barrel to a car wash to get it all out.

I must have had my Yugo SKS stock in and out of my over 20 or so times. It would not stop beading up on the surface. I think I got most of it. I guess we'll see when I take it to the range.

It may never stop doing that. :)

I have some rifles that were so permeated with cosmoline, that I just keep a rag on the shooting bench and wipe it down from time to time whenever I shoot it.

I like to think of it as "quaint."

My VZ24 used to sweat out cosmoline every time I went shooting. I really miss it :(. Keep the cosmoline and cherish it while you can. Eventually it will stop sweating :crying:
