Cruising 12th street 2020 Moore OK

They opened 12 street for cruising 4-18-2020
I have no idea if this will be ongoing or not.

The law shut it down years ago, first it was 39th street in OKC, shut down, then moved to Moore and Midwest city had one too. Shut down.

It is something that started up in several communities in response to try and support local business, get people out of the house during the Corona Virus.

Looking at the FB page they want to make it a monthly event, Moore Police was involved and thanked with pics taken as well. Several cruises started up in different towns recently it sounds like.

Dang but that brought back some memories.

I remember cruising the main drag back in 1967-68,,,
I was a senior at Moore HS at the time.

Me and as many of my friends as I could cram in my brand new 1968 Road Runner,,,
Pull into the "Big W" and circle 'til we found an open slot.

Order just enough to not get tossed off the lot,,,
And try to impress the girls with our newfound manliness.

Dang but that was a good year.

We had the hottest cars, the best music, reliable birth control,,,
And AIDS hadn't been invented yet.

Yep, used to cruise 12th st my junior and senior year. Would park at either the New City center parking lot or that little strip mall next to Springs of Moore apartments and chat with other cb radio folks. It was about the only thing to do other than bowling without having to drive to OKC or Norman. They officially banned it a year or two after I graduated. I think technically it wasn't allowed then, but as long as the kids didn't cause any trouble the cops let it slide. This was from '93 to '95.
