joining the nit picking crowd here, but you must mean "folded steel" blade, the art of creating Damascus steel was lost 100's of years ago. i was schooled on this by a knife freak/fanatic a few years back. LOL but i'd love to see you pull it off and the results

yep, seriously. the secret method was lost, supposedly in the mid 1700's. Damascus blades were made from steel smelted in India and traded to Persia/Syria, it's known as Wootz Steel. it was shipped soft annealed and had to be rehardened by the blade maker. folded steel became known as Damascus steel, but in name only. lots of high end blade smiths trying to figure it out using some of the ancient blades that still exist.
